“The Man from Earth” was shot in January, 2006 at the Agua Dulce Movie Ranch in Santa Clarita, California. The site had no electricity and no running water, so power, water, bathrooms and dressing rooms all had to be brought in and set up on site.

The last night of the shoot a powerful dust storm blew over lights and damaged the cameras… we barely got the last shot as the sun was coming up. On the drive back to the rental facility, the dressing room trailer was blown over and destroyed.

“Jerome Bixby’s The Man from Earth” had its world premiere in July, 2007, at the San Diego Comic-Con, competing in the Comic-Con International Film festival. Producers Eric Wilkinson and Emerson Bixby joined director Richard Schenkman, plus cast members Tony Todd, Ellen Crawford, William Katt and Richard Riehle, for a few days of screenings, panels, meet-and-greets and autograph signing. Fun fact: film festival judge Thomas Jane (“I Melt With You”) was apparently unaware that for the first time feature-length films were eligible for awards, and so he voted against “Man from Earth” winning the top prize.
